Unforgettable Fire Burning Bush

Unforgettable Fire is a compact, full-branched burning bush with smaller leaves and dependable red autumn color. Its green summer foliage turns vivid red before leaf fall, while the corky ridges on older stems bring texture to the winter garden. ## Landscape Use The original Proven Winners profile lists this selection at about 5–7 feet tall and wide and suitable for borders, containers, hedges, and mass planting. Its dense habit can create a substantial seasonal accent without the scale of the species. The plant is *Euonymus alatus* ‘Hayman’; the profile identifies the US plant patent as PP 21,634 and lists Canadian registration 4,389. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun for the strongest fall color; part sun is also listed. It grows in most well-drained soils but should not sit in soggy ground. Average moisture is suitable, with regular watering during establishment. The official profile lists USDA Zones 4–8 and describes late-winter or early-spring pruning for shaping, with care around thick stems. See [Proven Winners' Unforgettable Fire profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/euonymus/unforgettable-fire-burning-bush-euonymus-alatus) for cultivar details and current growing guidance. ## Maintenance Use selective cuts to preserve the natural full habit. Thick stems heal slowly and can leave conspicuous gaps, so remove them only when necessary.
