About Unplugged® So Blue™ Sage

Unplugged® So Blue™ is a compact, upright mealycup sage with true-blue flower spikes and silvery-green foliage. Its months-long flowering season, heat tolerance and container-friendly scale make it useful in sunny borders and seasonal pots. [Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/p/11245) identifies the selection as ‘G14251’; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/salvia-farinacea/) provides additional species-level growing guidance. ## Flowers and garden use Blue flowers appear from spring through fall and attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. The plant has an upright habit and works as a container thriller, in borders, or in groups across a sunny landscape. It tolerates heat and drought once established and is listed as deer resistant. ## Growing conditions Provide full sun to part sun and well-drained soil. The species grows in clay, loam and sand, prefers moist conditions, and tolerates dry clay. Mature plants are about 14–24 inches tall with a 12–16 inch spread. The page lists USDA zones 8–10. ## Maintenance Water regularly after planting and during extended dry spells, particularly in containers. Deadheading is not necessary for continued flowering, though spent stems can be trimmed for appearance. Allow room for airflow around the foliage.
