Vivid® Purple Delicious is a named purple-flowered selection in Green Fuse Botanicals’ Vivid® verbena program. Green Fuse identifies the line as Verbena hybrida and lists Purple Delicious among its Vivid selections. The RHS describes bedding verbenas as free-flowering summer plants that suit borders, containers and hanging baskets. ## Garden use
Use the purple flowers as a strong seasonal color block in a container or at the front of a sunny border. Their color works with silver foliage, white-flowered annuals and other purple-toned plants. Garden verbena hybrids are usually grown for seasonal flower displays. The North Carolina Extension profile identifies garden verbenas as hybrids in Verbenaceae and recommends full sun and well-drained soil. The RHS describes bedding verbenas as useful in borders, containers and hanging baskets, with summer flowers and pollinator interest. ## Maintenance
Plant in a warm, sunny position after frost, using free-draining soil. Water newly planted specimens while they establish, then check containers more often during warm, dry weather. Avoid leaving roots in waterlogged compost; trim faded flower clusters and tidy stems as needed to maintain the display.
