Quartz Blue Verbena

Quartz Blue is the blue-flowered standard selection in the PanAmerican Seed Quartz verbena range. PanAmerican lists Verbena × hybrida Quartz Blue at 10–12 inches high and 12–14 inches wide; Ball Seed describes its habit as mounded and reports flowering from spring through autumn. Ball Seed also lists sun exposure, medium water needs, heat tolerance and attraction to bees and butterflies. Give the plant room to spread and combine its blue flowers with white, silver or warm-colored annuals. For the hybrid group, North Carolina Extension recommends full sun and well-drained soil. Water newly planted specimens while they establish, then check containers more often during warm, dry weather. Avoid leaving roots in waterlogged compost; trim faded flower clusters and tidy stems as needed to maintain the display.
