## Garden use
Use this seasonal viola in bedding, containers, border edges, or ground-cover plantings. North Carolina State Extension describes Viola cornuta as useful in borders and as ground cover, and notes that its flowers attract bees and butterflies. ## Growing conditions
Choose full sun or partial shade and humusy, moist, well-drained soil. The species guide describes rapid growth and reports that flowering can decline during prolonged summer heat.
## Maintenance
Keep the soil moist during establishment while allowing excess water to drain. Remove spent blooms as desired, and cut plants back after heat if you want to encourage renewed flowering in cooler weather.
