Sorbet® Midnight Glow Viola

Sorbet® Midnight Glow is a compact, mounded Viola cornuta in the Sorbet series. The breeder lists flowering from early spring through late spring, with autumn and winter flowering also possible. ## Growing Conditions The [PanAmerican Seed profile for Sorbet® Midnight Glow (PAS733558)](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/064001386022047/viola-sorbet-midnight-glow/) gives a mounded habit, 6–8 inch height and spread, and exposure in partial sun or sun. The [North Carolina Extension horned violet guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viola-cornuta/common-name/horned-violet/) recommends full sun to part shade and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil; it also describes the species as a cool-weather bloomer. These plants suit bedding, borders, containers, and low ground-cover plantings. Allow air flow and even moisture, especially in warm periods. Ball Seed also lists the selection as low maintenance and fragrant-flowered. ## Maintenance Water regularly to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Remove spent flowers to encourage new buds. After hot weather, cut plants back if flowering declines; the species may bloom again as temperatures cool.
