Sorbet® XP Deep Orange Viola is a mounded Viola cornuta selection with deep orange flowers. The PanAmerican profile lists flowering from early spring through late spring, and again in late summer, autumn, and winter; it gives a 6–8 inch height and spread and partial-sun or sun exposure. ## Garden Uses
Use horned violet in bedding, flower borders, patio containers, and garden edging. NC State also recommends the species for ground cover and pollinator gardens, where the spreading plants can fill a bed after establishment. [NC State horned violet profile]( )
## Growing Conditions
Plant in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sand and recommends full sun or partial shade. NC State notes that flowering slows during hot summer weather.
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent flowers to prolong flowering. After flowering, cut back vigorous growth to keep the plant compact. Weed young beds until plants establish, and watch for slugs, snails, and fungal leaf problems. [RHS Viola cornuta profile]()
