Sorbet® Yellow Beacon is a mounded horned violet with cheerful yellow flowers and a small white cap. The breeder lists it as a Viola cornuta selection flowering from early spring through autumn and winter.
### In the garden
Use this compact pansy relative at a border edge, along a path, or in a container where the flowers can be enjoyed close by. PanAmerican Seed lists a 6–8 inch height and width, partial sun to sun exposure, and a long flowering season; Ball Seed describes the flowers as yellow with a white cap. These source profiles appear on the [PanAmerican Seed product page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/064001386012650/viola-sorbet-yellow-beacon/) and [Ball Seed plant profile](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=064001386012650).
### Growing conditions
Horned violet grows well in humus-rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil and tolerates full sun to part shade. It can be used in beds, borders, containers, and as ground cover. The [NCSU Extension profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viola-cornuta/common-name/horned-violet/) describes its soil, siting, and maintenance needs.
## Maintenance
Water regularly to keep the root zone evenly moist, while allowing excess water to drain. Remove faded flowers and trim lightly if growth becomes untidy; a cutback can encourage another flush when cooler temperatures return.
