About Cool Wave® Blue Spreading Pansy

Cool Wave Blue is a clear-blue pansy for cool-season beds and containers. Its spreading, trailing stems suit hanging baskets, patio planters and flowering groundcover. ## Growing and seasonal color The solid blue flowers bring a cool note beside spring bulbs and continue the garden display in cool weather. The selection flowers from early spring through late spring and returns in autumn and winter. Its 6–8-inch height and 24–30-inch spread suit planters and bed edges where the trailing stems can spill outward. [PanAmerican Seed's exact selection page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/046706339000616/spreading-pansy-cool-wave-blue/) describes the variety and its growing profile. Pansies grow in full sun to part shade and prefer humus-rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil, according to [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viola-x-wittrockiana/). ## Garden care Cool Wave pansies work in hanging baskets, patio planters and garden beds. The [Wave profile](https://www.wavegardening.com/en-us/Flowers/PlantInformation?phid=046706339000616) recommends sun, medium watering and feeding every two weeks. Pansy flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators; deadheading spent blooms can prolong flowering. Remove plants when summer heat ends the display. ## Maintenance Water to keep the root zone evenly moist without waterlogging. Feed every two weeks during active growth, deadhead spent flowers, and remove plants when summer heat causes flowering to decline.
