Matrix® Yellow Blotch Pansy

Matrix® Yellow Blotch is a large-flowered, mounded pansy in PanAmerican Seed’s Matrix® series. The breeder lists flowering in early spring, spring, autumn and winter, supporting cool-season displays in beds and containers. ## Growing Conditions The [PanAmerican Seed product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/046704283006065/pansy-matrix-yellow-blotch/) describes the Matrix® series as low-maintenance, with plants about 8 inches tall and an 8–10-inch spread in partial sun or sun. The [North Carolina Extension pansy guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viola-x-wittrockiana/) recommends full sun to part shade and humus-rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil. Pansies fit bedding, containers, borders, mass plantings and groundcover, while their mounded habit suits the front of a bed or a container. In warm climates, pansies are most useful as cool-season displays because they decline in summer heat. ## Maintenance Keep soil evenly moist while ensuring good drainage, and water when rainfall is insufficient. Remove faded flowers to prolong blooming. Replace plants when summer heat ends their useful display.
