Spring Matrix™ Blue Blotch Pansy

Spring Matrix™ Blue Blotch is a large-flowered, mounded pansy in PanAmerican Seed’s Spring Matrix series. The series is intended for cool-season, short-day growing and is listed for flowering in early spring, spring, autumn and winter. ## Growing Conditions The Spring Matrix catalog gives an 8-inch height and an 8–10-inch spread, while the exact Blue Blotch page lists a mounded habit and exposure to partial sun or sun. Use pansies in beds, borders, containers, hanging baskets, mass plantings or as groundcover. The [North Carolina Extension pansy profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/viola-x-wittrockiana/) recommends full sun to part shade and humus-rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil. It also notes that flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators and that plants decline in summer heat. ## Maintenance Keep soil evenly moist while providing good drainage. Remove faded flowers to prolong blooming, and replace plants when summer heat ends their useful display.
