About Canadice Seedless Red Grape

Canadice is an early, seedless table grape with compact clusters of small pink to light-red berries. Its tender, edible skin and mildly spicy labrusca flavor make the fruit suitable for fresh eating. ## Fruit and season Canadice ripens in early September in New England and produces medium clusters with small berries of excellent flavor. The seedless fruit can also be stored for several months under suitable conditions. The [UMass seedless table grape guide](https://www.umass.edu/agriculture-food-environment/home-lawn-garden/fact-sheets/grapes-seedless-table-varieties) describes its season and winter hardiness; [VineTech's Canadice profile](https://vinetech.ca/variety/canadice/) gives its fruit and vine characteristics. ## Growing conditions Give this grape full sun and well-drained soil. Train its vigorous canes on a substantial trellis and allow good air movement around the foliage. Water young plants at the root zone while they establish; established vines generally need extra irrigation mainly during prolonged drought or in very sandy, freely draining soil. ## Maintenance Prune annually before spring growth to manage the canopy and support fruit production. Harvest clusters as they ripen, and remove fallen fruit and leaves after the season. VineTech notes that Canadice is less susceptible to powdery mildew than to black rot, Botrytis, and downy mildew, so monitor foliage and fruit and follow local extension guidance for disease management.
