About Concord Seedless Seedless Blue Grape

Concord Seedless is a seedless sport of the familiar Concord grape, with blue-black fruit on a trailing vine. Its fruit is suited to fresh eating and preserves. ## In the garden Train the vine along a sturdy trellis, arbor, or fence in a sunny, open site. The [cultivar profile](https://doubleavineyards.com/products/concord-seedless-grape-vines/) describes moderate vigor, earlier ripening than Concord, and USDA zones 4–8. Allow adequate space for the mature vine and airflow around the canopy. ## Growing conditions As a Vitis grape, it is a deciduous climber with small green flowers, as described in the [RHS Vitis profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/19033/vitis-labrusca/details). Grapes perform best in full sun and well-drained soil. The [UC IPM grape guide](https://ipm.ucanr.edu/home-and-landscape/cultural-tips-for-growing-grape/) recommends good drainage and deep irrigation; Minnesota Extension advises regular watering for young vines and watering established vines mainly during drought. Prune annually and provide strong support as shoots grow. ## Maintenance Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth, tie canes to their support, and protect ripening fruit from birds when needed. See the [Minnesota grape-growing guide](https://extension.umn.edu/fruit/growing-grapes-home-garden) for home-garden training and pruning advice.
