About Reliance Seedless Red Grape

Reliance Seedless Red Grape is the named Vitis labrusca cultivar ‘Reliance’, a seedless table grape with pink fruit at maturity and a delicate labrusca flavor. Its medium-large clusters hold medium berries, and the cultivar is also listed for raisin use. [The University of Arkansas profile](https://www.uaex.uada.edu/farm-ranch/crops-commercial-horticulture/docs/Reliance.pdf) and [USPP5174](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP5174P/en) describe the selection. ## Growing conditions Plant it in full sun in well-drained soil and train the climbing vine along a sturdy fence, arbor, or trellis. Water at the root zone during establishment; established vines usually need extra irrigation only in drought or very freely draining soil. The cultivar flowers in May, while fruit-ripening dates vary by climate. [UMN Extension’s grape-growing guide](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/growing-grapes-in-the-home-garden) covers support, watering, pruning, and cleanup. ## Maintenance Prune each winter or spring before growth begins, train new canes onto the support, and remove fallen leaves, fruit, and pruning cuttings from around the vine. Birds may feed on ripening berries; netting can protect fruit as harvest approaches.
