Create design onlineAbout Summit Muscadine Grapes
Summit is a female-flowered muscadine selected for fresh-market fruit, with pink-bronze berries that ripen in the main season. Its female flowers require a nearby self-fertile muscadine for reliable fruit set, and the vigorous vine needs sturdy support.
## Growing Conditions
Choose a sunny site with soil that drains after heavy rain. Muscadines grow on many soil types; UGA recommends a soil pH of 6.0–6.5 and a durable trellis. Leave enough room for the mature vine and its arms along the support. ## Garden Use
Plant Summit for fresh fruit from a main-season muscadine harvest. UGA trials report high vine vigor, even ripening, and better berry-rot resistance than Fry; its pinker bronze appearance and drier stem scar also suit fresh-market use.
## Maintenance
Water young vines as needed while they establish, train the trunk and fruiting arms onto a strong trellis, and prune annually during dormancy. Because Summit is female-flowered, include a compatible self-fertile muscadine nearby.
