Create design onlineAbout Vanessa Seedless Red Grape
Vanessa is an early, red, seedless table grape developed in Ontario. Its medium berries are firm and crisp, with a mild, fruity flavor; occasional soft seed remnants may be noticeable.
## Growing Conditions
Give the vine full sun and a sturdy trellis. Water regularly during establishment, then adjust irrigation to rainfall and soil conditions. Vanessa is an interspecific hybrid with Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera parentage; its cold tolerance varies with site and winter conditions. ## Garden Use
Use Vanessa for fresh eating. Extension sources describe medium fruit and clusters, firm-to-crisp texture, mild fruit flavor, good storage potential, and an early harvest in cool-climate trials. Seed traces can vary between berries and growing conditions.
## Maintenance
Train the vine to its support and prune annually during dormancy. The pruning method can be adjusted to the vigor of the vine: cane-prune vigorous plants and spur-prune less vigorous growth.
