Whirlwind® White™ is the white-flowered selection ‘Bomy Whit’ of Scaevola aemula. It is an annual in cultivation, with white, fan-shaped flowers, green foliage, and a vigorous spreading-to-trailing habit.
## Garden use
Use its trailing stems in hanging baskets, window boxes, mixed containers, or along a wall or slope. The Canadian cultivar record notes that ‘Bomy Whit’ was bred from a cross involving ‘Whirlwind White’ and compares the selection with ‘Scawihatis’ (Whirlwind White).
## Growing conditions
Provide full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Water regularly during the growing season, especially in containers. NC State Extension lists Scaevola aemula for USDA zones 10–11 while noting that it is commonly grown as an annual in cooler climates. Its spreading, trailing growth can fill a container edge, with mature size varying by growing conditions.
## Seasonal interest
Flowers appear from early into mid-season and continue over a long period; the species commonly flowers through summer and fall until frost in warm conditions. Its vigorous cascading habit keeps the container edge colorful beyond the first flush.
## Maintenance
Water consistently during active growth and keep container plants from drying out. The species is generally low maintenance; late-summer cuttings can be brought indoors for winter. [Canadian cultivar record](https://active.inspection.gc.ca/english/plaveg/pbrpov/cropreport/scae/app00007092e.shtml) documents the annual life cycle, white flowers, and spreading/trailing habit.
