Create design onlineAbout White Knight Sweet Alyssum
White Knight is the trade name for Lobularia hybrid 'INLBUWIKNI', a densely branched, semi-erect annual with medium-green foliage and white flowers. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency identifies Peter Wicki-Freidl as its breeder and InnovaPlant Zierpflanzen as the holder; its breeding record lists Snow Princess as the seed parent.
## Garden Use
The [CFIA variety record](https://active.inspection.gc.ca/english/plaveg/pbrpov/cropreport/swal/app00009232e.shtml) describes the exact selection and distinguishes it from Snow Princess by its denser branching, narrower plant and shorter flower clusters. The [Proven Winners 2023 Canadian annual catalog](https://www.provenwinners.com/sites/provenwinners.com/files/catalogs_pdfs/s-4_annual_section_2023_canada_i-v_o.pdf) lists White Knight at 8–12 inches tall and places the Knight selections among lower-vigor companions. For general sweet alyssum use, [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/lobularia-maritima/) describes it as a flowering annual commonly used along edges and walkways.
## Growing Conditions
NC State Extension's guidance for Lobularia maritima favors full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil; flowering may slow in hot summers. These are species-level recommendations, so adjust exposure and watering to the hybrid and local weather. A site with drainage and room for branching helps keep the plant healthy without crowding neighboring flowers.
## Maintenance
Water when the soil begins to dry, especially in pots, and avoid persistently saturated roots. If flowering declines during summer heat, a light trim can encourage fresh growth as conditions cool. Remove tired stems and any seedlings that appear where they are unwanted.
