Create design onlineAbout White Licorice Licorice Plant
‘White Licorice’ is a compact foliage annual selected for its soft, silver-white leaves and relaxed, arching growth. It reaches about 8–12 inches tall and 18–20 inches wide, making it useful as a pale spiller around brighter flowers in containers and window boxes. [Proven Winners](https://c1.provenwinners.com/plants/helichrysum/white-licorice-licorice-plant-helichrysum-petiolare) lists it for part sun to sun and notes its heat and drought tolerance.
## Placement and care
Give the plant a bright position with several hours of sun. Its silver foliage pairs well with saturated flower colors and softens the edge of a pot or border. Allow room for its vigorous stems to extend; the mature spread is close to 20 inches. Water when the planting mix begins to dry, and avoid keeping the roots continually wet.
## Seasonal use
This selection is grown primarily for foliage rather than a showy flower display. In warm climates it can persist longer, while in colder gardens it is commonly used as a warm-season annual. The breeder’s 9a–10b listing is a planning reference, not a guarantee of winter survival in every site.
## Maintenance
Trim back stems that outgrow their space or become ragged. Deadheading is unnecessary, and routine heavy feeding is not needed. Check container moisture during hot weather, since pots dry faster than beds.
