About Amethyst Falls™ Wisteria Vine

Amethyst Falls™ is a deciduous American wisteria vine with lightly fragrant lavender-purple clusters in late spring and a lighter repeat bloom in summer. Give the woody vine room to spread and a sturdy arbor or trellis for its twining stems. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/wisteria-frutescens-amethyst-falls/) ### Placement Plant in full sun and moist soil with good drainage. The flower clusters attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and the vine can be used as a specimen or in a large container near a patio or pool. Its twining stems can be trained over an arbor or trellis. ### Growing conditions The selection blooms on new wood, with a heavier late-spring display and lighter summer repeat. It is less aggressive than many Asian wisterias, though it still needs a sturdy support and room for a woody vine. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/wisteria-frutescens-amethyst-falls/) ## Maintenance Prune moderately in winter to shape the vine and manage new growth. Wisteria seeds and pods are not edible; keep them away from pets and children.
