Aunt Dee™ Kentucky Wisteria is a woody twining vine with long, fragrant clusters of light-purple flowers. It can be trained over a sturdy trellis, pergola, wall, or as a standard; leave room for the framework to mature. ### Site and soil
Choose full sun for the best flowering, with partial shade tolerated. Kentucky wisteria prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil that is not compacted. NC State’s arboretum lists Aunt Dee as a deciduous vine, hardy in sun, with a size range of 15–25 feet. ### Training
The support must be sturdy because mature woody stems become heavy. The cultivar is described as slightly hardier than the species and may perform in zone 4. Seeds are poisonous, so keep pods away from children and pets.
## Maintenance
Prune after flowering to shape the vine, then shorten excess stems in winter to keep the framework orderly and encourage future bloom. Avoid excessive fertilizer, which can favor leafy growth over flowers. [Morton Arboretum](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/kentucky-wisteria/)
