Create design onlineAbout Yezberry Solo Japanese Haskap
Yezberry® Solo™ is a compact, deciduous Japanese haskap selected for its edible blue berries and very early spring flowers. Proven Winners lists it for full sun to part shade and notes that this cultivar can fruit without a pollinator; planting another Yezberry variety nearby can increase berry size and yield.
## Form and Flowering
This mounded shrub reaches about 5–6 feet tall and wide, with green foliage and yellow flowers that open on old wood in early spring. The blue fruit ripens in early summer. The [Proven Winners plant profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/lonicera/yezberry-solo-japanese-haskap-lonicera-caerulea) gives its dimensions, hardiness range, and cultivar-specific fruiting notes.
## Siting
Choose a sunny or partly shaded location with room for the mature spread. The plant tolerates a range of soil types and pH; keep new plantings watered while roots establish. It works in a mixed edible border, mass planting, or as a small informal screen.
## Maintenance
Give shrubs room for airflow and sunlight. If pruning is needed, prune after harvest so you do not remove the next season’s flowers on older wood. Pick berries after they turn blue and taste one for sweetness before harvesting the crop.
