Yucca gloriosa, commonly known as the Spanish dagger, is a slow-growing evergreen shrub native to the southeastern United States. It initially forms a basal rosette of stiff, sword-shaped, dark green leaves with sharp terminal spines. Over time, it develops a woody trunk, reaching heights of up to eight feet. In late summer, it produces spectacular panicles of creamy white, bell-shaped flowers. This hardy plant thrives in well-drained sandy soils and is highly tolerant of salt, drought, and heat.
