State Fair Mix - Zinnia

State Fair Mix is an open-pollinated annual zinnia with large double and semi-double flowers in a broad range of colors. Its tall, vigorous growth and long stems bring an informal, bright display to sunny borders and cutting gardens. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun and well-drained soil, keeping the root zone moist until established. The Johnny’s Selected Seeds profile describes an annual, open-pollinated mix with 3–5 inch dahlia-type double and semi-double blooms, tall long-stemmed plants, a wide color range, and repeat cuts through the season. The [selection profile](https://www.johnnyseeds.com/flowers/zinnias/zinnia-mixes/state-fair-mix-zinnia-seed-1347.html) provides cultivar details; the [NC State Extension Zinnia profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/zinnia/) describes green foliage, rapid growth, seasonal bloom, wildlife value, and broad garden uses for zinnias. ## Maintenance Deadhead faded flowers to encourage continued bloom, but leave some seedheads for songbirds. Allow air to circulate around foliage, and water during establishment or extended dry weather.
