About Empress Gee™ Jujube Tree

Empress Gee is a compact Korean jujube selection grown for large, crisp fruit. The sweet, dark-brown fruit is suited to fresh eating and drying, while the tree also provides spring foliage and small fragrant flowers. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun for best fruiting. Jujubes grow in sandy, loamy, or clay soils and benefit from good drainage. The [One Green World Empress Gee profile](https://onegreenworld.com/product/empress-gee-jujube/) describes its fruit and compact form; [New Mexico State University’s jujube guide](https://pubs.nmsu.edu/_h/H330/) notes that canopy form varies by cultivar and that the species tolerates a broad range of soils. ## Seasonal Interest Jujubes usually leaf out in March or April, flower from May through July, and mature fruit from August through October, with timing varying by location. The small pale greenish-yellow flowers are fragrant, and the foliage is glossy and deciduous. ## Maintenance Allow room for the cultivar’s mature form and prune periodically to maintain structure and support fruit production. Established trees tolerate drought; irrigation in dry climates can support fruit set and yield.
