Create design onlineAbout Columnar Blue Atlas Cedar
Columnar Blue Atlas Cedar is an upright, narrow form of Cedrus atlantica with evergreen blue-green needles. Its ascending branches create a strong vertical accent where a broad-canopied tree would take too much space.
## Growing Conditions
The Royal Horticultural Society identifies this selection as Cedrus atlantica ‘Fastigiata’, with densely ascending branches, blue-green needles, and a columnar mature form. Its published garden size is higher than 39 feet tall and 13–26 feet wide. Plant in full sun in well-drained chalk, clay, loam, or sandy soil; the RHS lists acidic, alkaline, and neutral pH conditions. [RHS plant profile for Cedrus atlantica ‘Fastigiata’](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/133002/cedrus-atlantica-fastigiata/details) provides the selection identification and cultivation guidance.
## Maintenance
The RHS states that pruning is not required. Allow room for the mature spread and keep the root area from remaining waterlogged. Its evergreen needles keep the garden’s vertical structure visible through winter and the growing season.
